SDM Fuel Solutions are industry leading experts in tank cleaning and dealing with the issue of fuel contamination. Our experience
and range of services allow us to be able to analyse the situation and prescribe the best and most cost effective solution.
When a tank has become contaminated, a sludge like substance will form on the tank as well as the fuel itself becoming degraded. Through various filtration methods we can restore the fuel, but to deal with the sludge, tank cleaning services will be required.
Manned entry tank cleaning is the only way to be 100% certain your fuel and tank are thoroughly cleaned. Manned entry tank
cleaning is also much better value for money as you can remove all contaminants without the worry of it returning sooner than expected.
Our team of highly trained experts are capable of safely cleaning many different types and sizes of fuel tanks.
A combination of tank cleaning and off-site fuel polishing is also a service we provide this involves uplifting the contaminated fuel to our depot,
cleaning the tank via manned entry and returning the fuel to the tank once it has been fully recovered and re-sampled.
Fuel contamination is a term used for fuel when it becomes mixed with water, microbial growth and other sediments that gather at the bottom of a fuel tank. These types
of contamination will significantly damage the equipment it supplies if they make it through to the combustion process.
IMPORTANT FUEL REGULATION NEWS! From April 1st 2022 many industries will not be able to use Red Diesel and will need to use alternative fuels such as HVOor GTL, see
for more information on to transition.
Standard Red Diesel and Road Diesel currently must comply to BS2869 and EN590 standards respectively. These standards determine the quality of the fuel and specifically what specification they must meet to be used in each application.
SDM Fuel Solutions have a wealth of knowledge on fuels and what is required in managing the supply, quality and upkeep of it in a number of industries, which is why we are perfectly placed to offer fuel management services.
Following regulation changes in 2011, bio content in fuel has been increased. This in turn dramatically increases the risk of contamination by
emulsified water and microbial growth. The standard shelf life of unattended fuel is now 6 - 8 months which means that a robust fuel management plan must be in place to protect fuel stocks. SDM can provide high quality fuel management plans including regular sampling/testing, fuel/tank cleaning and installation of proven filtration systems.
